Anscheinend wird, wie Frau Payer auch vermutet, die Sache mit den LCRI
hierzulande noch nicht recht wahr- bzw. ernstgenommen. Dabei sind und
bleiben sie unentbehrlich.

Ein versierter amerikanischer Kollege schrieb mir:

"... most catalogers, although they use AACR2, primarily go to the
LCRIs, if there is one (and many times there are, if there is any
question at all). And then you will get the arguments, reasonings, etc.
instead of the Biblical 10 commandments. This is a real problem of RDA:
LC wants to stop the continuation of this, from what I have read (their
RIs and associated cataloging rules go back a long way--to the 1940s,
anyway). The entire focus of the RIs is based very much on practical
solutions: this is the problem, these are the issues, and this is how LC
will deal with it. Transferring this to RDA, which is far too academic
as it is now, and not based on the real world, *and* expect libraries to
pay for it, is just unrealistic."

Die LCRIs sind momentan immer noch online nicht leicht zugänglich, nur
als PDFs. Es wird aber von kenntnisreichen Kollegen ein Wiki
vorbereitet, in dem dann die Texte leicht auffindbar und gut präsentiert
sein werden. Auf Englisch. Hinweis folgt, sobald was zu sehen ist.
